Blogging / Buying A House / Exchange / Homeowners / London / Moving

I’m back to blogging.

In the last year we’ve sold our house in Manchester and last week we moved into our new 2 bedroom flat in London.

Selling was awful. Aside from the obvious new flat side of things, it’s the reason I’ve finally put aside the time to start blogging again – so if anyone else is unfortunate enough to end up in our situation their Google of ‘Solicitors did not obtain regulations or indemnity insurance for removal of load baring walls‘ might pull up something helpful. I’ll bless you with that post at a later date, when it’s all poured out of me on to WordPress and I’ve probably had another good cry and a G&T.

Until then, let me leave you with the happier news of our new flat. A 2 bedroom, top floor flat in a Grade 2 listed Georgian terrace in Tottenham. We managed to secure it for £275,000 because we were chain free and the vendor was a developer. He was also a total twat, but that’s neither here nor there (nor uncommon).

First things first, the living room:

You’re welcome.

Costa Del Tottenham. Island Paradise. Etc, etc.

The kitchen and bathroom are fine for the time being and liveable, but they are very far from what we would choose and so obviously a quick make-over job to flip the property. We are excited at the idea of finally being able to design our own kitchen and bathroom. It’s going to be a little while in the making, but I have big plans which I’m sure you’ll hear about.

And then the bedrooms. The main bedroom is a portal to the 1990’s when over the bed wardrobes were all the rage (sorry, distorted panoramic iPhone photos)…

and the spare room has treated us to cream built ins with reddish trim and creepy children’s scrawl inside the cupboard doors as if a small child was locked in there…

So there you have it. We are getting used to our new area, enjoying the great transport links and keep getting caught out trying to get anywhere on a match day. All the joys of living in Tottenham.

I’ll be back with more soon.
